Yuvraj Singh continues links with Durban through charity
After his magnificent feats of hitting six sixes in one Stuart Broad over two years ago followed by a hattrick of wickets in the recent Indian Premier League, Yuvraj Singh has continued his fond association with Durban in South Africa through charity.
The flamboyant left-handed batsman, who has set up the Yuvraj Singh Foundation as a non-profit organisation, has undertaken an ambitious off-the-field project in the Western Cape Region of South Africa titled “Cricket Beyond Boundaries”.
The objective of the project, for which a fund-raising auction of cricket memorabilia was held in Durban on May 19 during the course of the IPL, is to use cricket as a vehicle to promote comity among children of diverse races in the region, a media release said on behalf of the foundation.
The captain of the IPL franchise team Kings XI Punjab is excited over his venture.
“I have travelled to many countries because of cricket and projects like Cricket Beyond Boundaries are small ways for me to reciprocate the love and good wishes I receive from people worldwide,” Yurvaj said through the release.
