The third ashes test will take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham between 30 July – 3 Aug, 2009. Edgbaston has been a regular Test match venue for over fifty years, and it usually has a wicket that brings results. The crowd capacity is currently 21,000 but this is expected to be increased to 25,000 by the time of the Ashes series commences. It is the home to Warwickshire Cricket Club and is the venue, where Brian Lara scored the world record total of 501 runs in a county match against Durham in 1994.
Over the years England has had the edge over the Aussies at Edgbaston, but the last four matches have been shared. The Ashes 2005 match here was one of the most exciting ever, with England winning by just 2 runs in the tightest finish ever in 128 years of Ashes history.
